Work with the web camera in the Valley of the Geysers is temporarily suspended due to severe storms.

We are grateful to the World Wildlife Fund, Independent Media, Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, British American Tobacco Russia, and M. Video for their generous cooperation and successful realization of our project to install a webcam in the Valley of the Geysers, and the internet provide Helios Net for supplying free traffic.

As a result of the webcam project, we all have the opportunity to virtually visit this amazing wilderness, which is a point of national pride.

Particular thanks go to specialists Alexander Lavrenov and Yuri Milkov for their professionalism and substantional contributions to achieving these results.

The success and favorable reception of this project, which brought one of the Seven Wonders of Russia to internet users around the world, has inspired an even grander idea. Another webcam has been installed in the South Kamchatka Sanctuary to observe brown bears fishing in Kuril Lake. Next year, curious observers may see the lion rookery at Cape Kozlova (in the waters of the Kronotsky Reserve).

Eleven of the twelve insect species listed in the Red Book of Kamchatka are found in the Kronotsky Reserve.
