The Kronotsky Nature Reserve and its charitable foundation have been granted the All-Russian Ecopositive Award

At the Ecopositive award ceremony which took place in Moscow, a representative of the Kronotsky Nature Reserve took to the stage twice. The innovative project "The Kronotsky Reserve coast free from plastic!" won in the nomination "Environmental initiatives: Conservation of aquatic ecosystems". And the lessons about PA developed by the Nature Protectors School of the Kronotsky Reserve were shortlisted and received a diploma in the nomination "Environmental Initiatives: Eco-education".Roman Korchigin, Deputy director of the Kronotsky Nature Reserve for Science and Educational Tourism, ex-head of the Nature Reserve charitable conservation fund founded by the reserve, presented the educational and methodological complex for schoolchildren of 2-8 grades for the Kamchatka Territory at the Ecopositive 2023 award. The complex of lessons is called "My Kamchatka is a protected area". A team of eco-educators, methodologists and teachers has been working for two years to create a new educational course on nature conservation especially designed for the unique region of Kamchatka. The Nature Protectors School of the Kronotsky Reserve has teamed up with teachers from schools in the Kamchatka Territory to work on the project. The educational and methodological complex was shortlisted and received a diploma in the nomination "Environmental Initiatives: Eco-education".
In 2022-2023, the Nature Reserve Fund in Kamchatka implemented a unique project named "The Kronotsky Reserve coast free from plastic!", where AI was used to search for waste on the coast. In addition, several expeditions were conducted in the South Kamchatka Federal Reserve with the support of the Russian Geographical Society to collect, account for and classify plastic discarded on the coast. The project will definitely be continued in the future. This project won the nomination "Environmental initiatives: Conservation of aquatic ecosystems".
In addition, Roman Korchigin presented the experience of the Kronotsky Reserve at the conference "ESG: ecology – the basis of sustainable development"; the event preceded the Ecopositive award ceremony and was dedicated to the formation of a culture of sustainable development.
